Sturgeon Jump?

A few years back ABC News sent me to the storied Suwannee River as an Audio Engineer. With me was Cameraman Al Durruth, a producer and our correspondat Jeffery Kofman. This is still one of my favorite stories so it deserves to be retold!

Our task was to tell the story of the “Jumping Sturgeon”.

Apparently there are prehistoric fish that can weigh many hundreds of pounds that jump 5-10 feet in the air. These fish are so large and heavy that when they jump infront of a boater there is great possibility of injury and even death.

Well, the fish were easy to find, but getting video of them was another story. At times it was as if the water was boiling with jumping fish, but no matter where the camera was pointed they would not jump there. It was very frustrating but in the end we got the story.
